Vintage Grading Specialists was created by vintage card collectors, for vintage card collectors. Our founder has over 40 years of experience collecting vintage cards and grading cards for public sale.
We created VGS because we believe vintage cards deserve a grading approach that recognises their age, history and the very different circumstances in which they were produced. Applying exactly the same criteria to a rare and important 19th-century card to that of an ultra-modern card produced only weeks ago simply does not work. A card in excellent condition is a high and desirable grade for a vintage card, and therefore its allotted number should be above the mean. Naturally, such a system can lead to frustration and dissatisfaction amongst collectors.
VGS was established to offer collectors an alternative: a specialist service focused on vintage cards, combining an assessment of condition with what, for many collectors, is the most important aspect — VISUAL APPEAL™. This is complemented by attractive labelling and professionally sized encapsulation.
